Allow Users to select Regular or Tree view as part of their Profile Preferences
As part of a users preferences, they should be able to select their prefered view of Tree or Default. Rather than forcing all users to use the same view.

Use amazon s3 storage as an optional/backup storgae or use it as primary storage option
Opendocman should have an option to choose primary storage (harddrive or amazon s3) thus free cloud storage can be leveraged (info at amazonaws.com)

Feature - Add file encryption to the files
Add file encryption to the files stored in the dataDir folder so that a special hash would be used to encrypt/decrypt the files inside OpenDocMan. This would make the files un-readable by other users of the server where the files reside. There could be issues where the files would be encrypted and then the key lost, therefore losing the files. Would need to figure out a good way of handing this.

Allow quick e-mail sharing of document
After finding a document, allow quick sharing (via e-mail), with the document's direct download path included in the e-mails body.
This allows for example a technical support guy to send a programming manual quickly to a client, with a one button click after finding it.16 votes -

I would suggest a specifice user access, only documents in their "folder" would be available.
User specific access would be great. Rather than a general "Admin, User, Super User" allow for "johndoe", "janedoe", "bill_johnson" with password protection to these folders?

Create a Unique File Reference
Create a unique file reference that is allocated to each document uploaded no matter which department they are allocated to, admin can define the prefix say 100 and then the file reference starts at 1 which would make the unique reference 100-1 not sure if one would be able to further develop this that each department could have there own uniue prefix so one could identify just by looking at the file reference in which department the file resides?

Add user-defined fields to "search All"
User-defined fields are excluded from the default "all" search type. It is not a true "all" search without them - and often, UDFs are far more important than the ones included by default. Please enable this feature.
